Score! Sprousefreaks was mentioned in the NYU local newspaper:

Here’s the whole story:
Yesterday, the seven freshmen residence halls gathered in Coles Gym to engage in some stereotypically collegiate, spirit-filled competition. This event, known to New York University as the FYRE (First Year Residential Experience) Olympics allows freshmen to come together to compete, cheer, and share a sense of community.
In an uncharacteristically enthusiastic show of school spirit, each hall offered a healthy handful of students to the event. Decked out in their hall colors, with matching rubber wristbands and color-coordinated face paint, they chanted cheers at one another and supported their fellow hall mates as they competed in events such as Tug of War, Volleyball, Trivia, Knockout, Critical Thinking, and a Relay Race.
Third North came in first, followed by Rubin Hall, Founders, Brittany, Hayden, Weinstein, and Goddard Hall, in order. Still, each hall did very well in at least one event. A lot of strategy went into how best to trump the other teams at tug of war, volleyball got the players sweaty and competitive, and knockout got everyone riled up.
Third North has managed to snatch the FYRE Olympics for the sixth year in a row. Third North is obviously the Jeremy Lin of residence halls: NYU’s favorite. Their designated color is purple, their residents enjoy all the perks of upper-classman housing, and they have three towers of students and RAs to choose from. They naturally have a wider selection of athletes, Type A personalities, and bodies to fill the stands and give the illusion of spirit.
Some Dylan and Cole Sprouse appreciation sites were quick to celebrate the victory of their idols. Sprousefreaks and Sprouseland both congratulated Third North on their victory.
Brittany and Rubin Hall supported each other throughout the day. The BRA (Brittany-Rubin Alliance) is an organization dedicated to uplifting the two freshman halls and creating a bond so strong that no man can undo it. The Brittany team ceremoniously waved a pink sports bra in the air and the teams swapped rubber bracelets to show their sense of community.
The Sunday prior to the primary events, a pep rally was held in the Silver Center. Each hall came prepared with something to perform and their student-made banner. Rubin came in first place that day with a delightful Oompa Loompa song-and-dance and awesome orange spirit. Goddard repped with three people who walked on stage, took out a lighter, and then left the stage. Meanwhile Brittany Hall performed the “Yes Dance” to the cheers of all and Hayden performed a Real Residents of Hayden which was later retweeted by Real Housewife Teresa Giudice.
Overall, we were pleasantly surprised to find so many students so full of school spirit. The FYRE Olympics did demand effort and sportsmanship and we commend all those who participated. For a moment there we felt like we were actually a part of a real college with real pep rallies and football games. It was fun to put down our lattes, put on some war paint and cheer at the top of our lungs over colors and residence halls. We hope next year’s freshman can shake it up like we did. For now… Go Freshmen!
